What are caregiver coaches?

As caregiver coaches, we offer a partnership to enable you to solve your problem or issue.  We ask you questions about your situation, help you look at your situation from a different perspective, walk along side you, encourage you and offer new information.   You will choose the answers or solutions that are right for you and your loved one. You are actively involved in developing a plan that addresses your unique situation.

 

How does caregiver coaching work?

Using the wellness wheel concept with the Dimensions of Wellness model, a caregiver wellness coach can address  the life issues  that can affect the caregiver and the care of their loved one in areas such as:  physical, mental, spiritual, financial, career, social, emotional, goal clarity, work life balance issues and more.  Caregiver coaching is a process over time.  We will work together to:
•    Clarify the issue or problem using a series of questions
•    Explore possible solutions
•    Plan a long term strategy to resolve the issue or problem
•    Develop manageable action steps with time frames for completing
•    Follow up support to keep you moving ahead

 

Why would someone need caregiver coaching?

Life happens!!  No one prepares you to become a caregiverfor your family members. It is often difficult to talk with your loved ones about  changes in living situations, and medical, financial and legal issues, failing health.  Caregiving is uncharted territory and each family situation is unique.  Working with a coach can help your family identify and resolve  situations more quickly, saving time, energy and financial resources. A Caregiver Coach can provide you the tools and techniques to know how to manage your loved ones Activites of Daily Living that will best meet their needs. 

 

Are the coaching sessions confidential?

 

Yes, 100%. Your informaton or will not be disclose to any third party, at any time, without prior written permission. In the highly unlikely event that a disclosure were to become necessary, every effort would be made to obtain permission from you first.

 

Who do you work with

  • Any caregiver or a concerned a family member which can might include adult children spouses, extended family members, who need might need support in caring for a loved one because of continuous care due to illness or injury.    

  • Caregivers and their family member who are in need of guidance tips and tools to provide for patient advocacy issues, social security disability claims.  

  • Caregivers who  find themselves suddenly in the role family caregiver

  • Caregivers providing care to an adult or child due to injury or illness such as: traumatic brain injury, dementia,   cancer, stroke or a  returning disabled Veteran.
